She & Him is an American indie folk band consisting of Zooey Deschanel (vocals, piano, banjo) and M. Ward (guitar, production). The band's first album, Volume One, was released on Merge Records in March, 2008. The duo is augmented by session musicians Rachel Blumberg (drums), Mike Mogis (pedal steel guitar, mandolin) and Mike Coykendall (bass, guitar). The group played at the 2008 South by Southwest festival.

I chanced upon this group when I was listening to (500) Days of Summer, which had their cover of The Smiths' Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want. What a suprise! Since I am quite a fan of The Smiths' music, I took special notice of this duo. After the first spin of their debut album, Volume One, I was impressed with their range of music. Yups, I'm a fan now. Give more Volume 2 next year as promised. 

Since I listen to most of my music on bus rides, I think their sound is perfect for most days except those exceptionally depressed and gloomy days. Give them a try and I believe it's not long before you'll fall in love with them and beg for another album like me.
